Institute of Radiology
St. Luke’s is committed to providing its patients the best imaging diagnostics necessary for outstanding clinical outcomes. The Institute of Radiology lives up to this commitment by providing internationally recognized consultants who are experts in imaging studies by using the most modern equipment – many of which are not available in other hospitals in the country. As a group serving the therapeutic institutes and centers, it boasts of the most advanced medical radiology equipment including the 3-Tesla MRI, 256-slice CT scanner, Computerized Radiograpy System and the fully automated Radiology Information System - Picture Archiving and Communication System (RIS - PACS).
The RIS-PACS is a computerized system that combines the MRI, CT, X-ray, Ultrasound, Cathlab and Nuclear Medicine images of patients and allow medical imaging doctors to access, manipulate and enhance the images anywhere in the computers connected in the two hospitals of St. Luke’s. Through online connection, St. Luke’s referring physicians can likewise access patient PACS files and provide immediate feedback to patients and to doctors who need the diagnostic findings.
The Institute is also an internationally recognized center of excellence in medical radiology and imaging. It has over 50 radiologists who are all Fellows of the Philippine College of Radiology, and are supported by highly trained and board certified radiologic technologists and nurses. St. Luke’s is one of the first hospitals in the country to develop dedicated organ-based and special interest sub-specialties in radiologic imaging, including neuroradiology, head and neck imaging, breast imaging, chest and cardiac imaging, gastrointestinal and genitourinary radiology, and pediatric radiology, among others.
Drawing from world-class expertise and state-of-the-art systems and facilities, the Institute has initiated an International Fellowship Program in Radiology where Radiologists from other Asian countries come and enrol to take up post-specialty training. The Institute has adopted a strong academic culture, and is engaged in various research endeavors.
St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City’s Breast Center was accredited by the Americal College of Radiology (ACR) as a center of Excellence in 2014. The Achievement makes St. Luke’s only the second facility outside the US, Canada and the US territories to be recognized as such and accredited by ACR for Mammography, Breast Ultrasound and Stereotactic Breast Biopsy services. The distinction is a testament to St. Luke’s Medical Center’s commitment to provide superior imaging services that comply with the highest standards in radiologic outcomes and safety.
