St. Luke's Medical Center Quezon City re-accredited by JCI

St. Luke’s Medical Center Quezon City has been re-accredited as an Academic Medical Center Hospital and was awarded the coveted Gold Seal of Approval® by the Joint Commission International (JCI) after a successful onsite assessment last March 25 to 29. This makes St. Luke’s Quezon City still the first and only Academic Medical Center Hospital in the Philippines.

An academic medical center hospital is comprised of a system that includes provision of exceptional patient care through a top-rate tertiary hospital, comprehensive medical education, a complete range of residency and fellowship training programs, leading-edge research and facilities, and competent and experienced teaching staff members.

During the survey, a team of JCI expert surveyors evaluated St. Luke’s compliance with international hospital standards related to a variety of areas, including the International Patient Safety Goals, Patient Assessment and Care, Anesthesia and Surgical Care, Medication Management, Patient and Family Education, Quality Improvement, Infection Prevention and Control, Governance and Leadership, Facility Management, Staff Qualifications and Education, and Information Management.

St. Luke’s Medical Center Global City, on the other hand, received its third Gold Seal of Approval® for Hospital Accreditation last November 2018. The Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to provide safe and effective patient care.

With this, St. Luke’s Medical Center has accumulated a total of nine gold seals of approval ? seven gold seals for hospital accreditation and two as an academic medical center hospital. In 2003, St. Luke’s Quezon City was recognized as the first hospital in the Philippines to be accredited by JCI.

JCI is the recognized leader in international healthcare accreditation. It is the most reliable accrediting body in the medical field that evaluates institutions outside the United States, based on stringent evidence-based global standards.
